Opposition calls for Parliamentary Select Committee to probe COPE report findings on treasury bond scam

The Opposition has called for a Parliamentary Select Committee to probe the findings of the COPE report on the Treasury Bond Scam.

UPFA MP,Vasudeva Nanayakkara stated that when this topic came to the limelight, the Prime Minister appointed a three-person committee and that committee report states that Arjuna Mahendran has not done anything wrong but the report presented by the Prime Minister has been proven false.

He added that the PM was told that it is better for him to stay away until the investigations are over

He further noted that it is a crime for anyone to attempt to conceal evidence related to an offence, and if such an attempt is made then they could be found guilty of aiding and abetting the said crime.

“The Prime Minister is also accused over the Central Bank scam”, charged the UPFA MP who explained that thereby, the IGP and the AG must present charge sheets on the investigations. MP Nanayakkara further called for the appointment of a Parliamentary Select Committee with regard to the matter
