Germany assures fullest support to regain GSP Plus relief

German Vice Chancellor Ms. Sigma Gabriel assured their fullest support in regaining the GSP Plus relief for Sri Lanka.


Meeting with the Sri Lankan delegation led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for bilateral discussions on 4th November evening she further added that as Sri Lanka had entered a democratic path with the political revolution that took place last year, Germany would take every possible effort to assist Sri Lanka to strengthen the past relations between the two countries.


Appreciating the new economic plans of Sri Lanka, the Vice Chancellor Ms. Gabriel expressed their willingness to support Sri Lanka for education, economic, and investment sectors.


Premier Wickremesinghe expressing his views on this occasion pointed out the necessity of obtaining Germany’s experience in vocational training sector. This sector would be very important when the 13 year education was made compulsory in Sri Lanka.


Both parties also discussed about obtaining the expertise from German experts in creating vocational training courses and syllabuses in accordance with the new global trends and demands.
