The VAT Amendment Bill was passed in parliament following a debate, with 112 votes in favour, and 46 against, this evening.
Sixty fice MPs were absent during the time of vote. The Tamil National Alliance abstained from voting.
Meanwhile, the third reading of the VAT Amendment Bill was passed in parliament with a majority of 53 votes. Seventy six (76) votes were cast in favour while 23 were cast against.
