A programme to plant 117,839 saplings throughout the country would be launched at 9.45 am on January 1, by the Environment Ministry. This is in keeping with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s vision of creating a green country devoid of concrete jungles announced in his election manifesto, Lands, Land Development Environment and WildLife Resources Minister S.M.Chandrasena said.
