The Provincial Health Service Drivers’ Association says that the ambulance drivers of the North Central Province have launched an indefinite strike action.
Secretary to the association, Amarananda Waduge said that approval for recruitment has be granted as per the circular number 6 of 2006. When we made inquiries from the Medical Director of the North Central Province, Dr. Palitha Bandara in this regard, he said that they intend to provide an uninterrupted service for patients by assigning tri-force personnel to drive the ambulances.
