The 48-hour token strike launched by the trade unions of postal employees will be in effect on Wednesday as well.
Postal employees are engaged in the strike in protest against a number of issues, including the manner in which reinstatement are made and promotions are given.
Owing to the festive season, News 1st cameras’ captured the manner in which piles of mail have gathered at the Central Mail Exchange. Postmaster General Rohana Abeyratne said that all leave of postal employees have been cancelled.
The joint postal trade unions front says, although all leaves have been cancelled the token strike launched by the trade unions of postal employees will not be halted.
