Karuna Amman granted bail

Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman has been granted bail by the Colombo High Court today.

He was in remand custody over the allegation of misusing a Rs.90 million worth bullet proof jeep.

However, an overseas travel ban has been imposed on the former deputy minister.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya released Karuna under a bail of ten lakhs and four surety bonds worth Rs.50 lakhs each.

Karuna Amman was also ordered to present himself before the FCID every Sunday morning.

The case hearing was postponed to February 1.
