Jaffna General Hospital gets Navy built RO Plant

Sri Lanka Navy yesterday opened its 56th Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant installed at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

The new plant will immensely benefit the patients, staff and the large number of people who visit the hospital daily.

With financial backing of the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease, these low cost RO plants are produced by the Research and Development Unit of the SL Navy.

The project was initially launched a year ago under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne with financial contribution of naval personnel. RO plants are installed in areas prone to chronic kidney disease. More than 28,000 thousand families and 20,000 school children in 11 districts have now access to safe drinking water through these RO plants.
