Investigations with regard to the fire which broke out at a clothing store in Boralesgamuwa, Pepiliyana, on Saturday night, have been handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division.
The fire broke out on the third floor of the building around 9 p.m. on Saturday.
The building and property inside were damaged. The fire was put out with the intervention of several fire extinguishing services including Air and Naval Forces.
Meanwhile, several politicians including Minister Faiszer Mustapha arrived at the location.
A tense situation broke out between the employees of the establishment and the police when an employee had attempted to take away CCTV footage of the complex.
Police said that advance technological mechanisms and CCTV footage obtained from the factory complex will be used in the investigation.Police Headquarters said that the support of the Government Analyst’s Department has also been sought for the investigations.
