South Korean President names new P.M and Finance Minister

South Korea’s President has named a new prime minister and minister of finance following a scandal that has been putting her administration in danger of being brought down.

President Park Geun-hye has been under criticism over the actions of her old friend and mentor Choi Soon-sil who was detained by police, accused of influence peddling and interfering in state affairs.

8 banks have also come under raid in connection with the scandal according to South Korean media.

According to critics Ms Choi had use her friendship with the president to solicit corporate money for foundations she ran, as well as embezzling state funds and directing presidential decisions, despite a lack of office, expertise or security clearance.

The scandal has provoked widespread anger
