Two individuals who allegedly attempted to illegally transport five kilogrammes of gold to India by boat, have been arrested in the seas off Talaimannar.
The Navy stated that the suspects had concealed the stock of gold aboard a dinghy boat and disguised themselves as fishermen.The suspects are residents of Mannar and Silawatura.
The suspects and the seized gold are to be handed over to the Jaffna Customs Office for further investigations.
