Eight families residing at the Sooriyakanda Estate in Fairlawn in Maskeliya have been relocated to safer areas, following reports on the risks of landslides.
Police said, measures were taken due to the increase in rains that are being experienced in the area.
While some are residing at relatives’ houses, others have taken refuge at the Child Protection Centre in the Sooriyakanda Estate.
The relocated families include twenty women and five children.
