President Maithripala Sirisena held discussions at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday, November 17 over regulating archives and the services pertaining to maintaining archives.
It was discussed that archives that are over 100 years old should be protected with the use of new technology.
The importance of developing the Department of Archives in order to maintain a high standard in the services provided in that department was also discussed.
The President advised the subject minister to present a cabinet paper regarding the protection of archives.
