Police say that the person arrested in connection to the shooting of a police officer in Kurunegala on Wednesday, November 16 is alleged to be a leader of an underworld gang involved in a number of murders, as well as a drug dealer.
According to police, the suspect identified as Roshan Silva alias Rohaa is a resident of Ratmalana, and is alleged to have been involved in a number of killings in Moratuwa, Ratmalana, and Piliyandala.
Police said he was also the suspect in connection to the recent shooting of a motorist in Attidiya.
He was arrested on the night of Tuesday, November 15, while fleeing the scene where he allegedly shot at a police officer near a hotel along Puttalam road in Kurunegala.
Police also said that special teams have been deployed to apprehend the other suspects.
