Members of 8 paramedical services trade unions at government hospitals around the Island have launched a 48 hour token strike.
The token strike has been launched in protest against the salary anomalies which will arise in recruiting medical dispensers into the paramedical service.
Joint Paramedical Services Front Spokesperson Najith Sumanasena said that the authorities have remained silent on the matter.
The token strike has resulted in laboratory services at all hospitals islandwide to be hampered.
Our correspondents said that patients arriving to receive treatment are facing severe inconveniences.
