Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Cooray, addressing an event at the Ramanathan College in Jaffna, shared his views on education, noting that the three decade long conflict destroyed everything.
“Prabhakaran didn’t win this war neither did Mahinda Rajapaksa”, he said
He pointed out that sadness, tears and oppression – these were the hallmarks of this period and there wasn’t anything else.
He added:
Now there is a programme operating in Jaffna called Eluka Tamil. This is a good programme. It teaches people to stand tall, educate themselves, earn well and bring development to their areas.
“If we are to bring back the glory of the past to the Northern Province, we need the strength of education”, he said.
