The JHU or the Jathika Hela Urumaya convened a media briefing on Friday.
Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka noted that on January 4, the COPE report will be debated in Parliament. It was requested that the President and the Prime Minister take a definitive decision on this.
He pointed out that the illicit profit of 14,000 Billion recorded by Perpetual Treasuries being invested in various sectors must be prevented and that sum can be termed as one that was looted from the Treasury or the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury must take measures to reclaim those funds.
He also noted that those accountable must be punished – devoid of their positions – and strict rules and regulations must be maintained at places that issue bonds and bills to ensure that fraud committed through insider trading is prevented.
