Gammadda Saviya forges ahead – brings issues of rural communities to a public forum

People of the village of Mahalidawewa  suffered for many years due to the absence of clean drinking water. Six patients with kidney ailments have been identified from this village, with one patient being a 13-year-old student.

Forty five families in this village, and several other surrounding villages, will be benefitting through this water project which was built with the financial assistance from Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thera, the Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya.

The Gammadda 100-day initiative, received massive feedback and support from the public. We were able to successfully address many pressing issues of the public through this initiative.

The Gammadda Saviya Community Organisation network which focusses on finding solutions to the problems that are persisting all over the country, by bringing them before the public, commenced today.

The first committee meeting of the Gammadda Saviya, which was held at the Sri Vishudharama Viharaya in Radaliyadda, was attended by people of several villages with great enthusiasm.

Those who joined hands with Gammadda Saviya, brought forward the common issues that they face and they also put forward their views and proposals for these issues. The Gammadda Initiative took necessary steps to create a backdrop where speedy solutions could be provided to these problems.
