Former UNP Secretary Tissa Attanayake’s bail application taken up in High Court

The Colombo High Court rejected the bail application of former UNP General Tissa Attanayake, who is currently in remand custody.

The motion filed by the Tissa Attanayake’s Attorneys before Colombo High Court Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardene was rejected by the Colombo High Court on Friday, November 04.

Tissa Attanayake was arrested and placed in remand custody on September 19 for allegedly presenting falsified documents during a media briefing held on December 22 r 2014. During the media briefing Attanayake claimed that then common candidate Maithripala Sirisena had entered into a secret pact with then Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Tissa Attanayake was arrested under the Presidential Elections Act.
