Deputy Min. of Ports and Shipping comments on 2017 budget proposals

At a media briefing held on Tuesday, November 15, Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigamage commented on the 2017 budget proposals

Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping Nishantha Muthuhettigamage said, after the budget people walked up to them and said that there were no concessions given.

“Due to huge fines imposed on vehicles, people will not be able to pay these taxes”, he said, “the number of people entering prisons will increase”, he added.

He went on to note that last time’s budget had three amendments, and that he invites the Finance Minister to amend the budget this year,  rectifying those errors.
