A research center will be established at the Peradeniya University Premises with Chinese assistance to find causes for the Chronic Kidney Disease of uncertain origin prevailing in 12 districts.
The Chinese government will grant USD one billion for the project which is to be established in a land of seven and a half acres.
According to the Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne, the project will provide two mobile laboratories and the essential equipment to treat kidney patients. The health staff will also be trained under the project.
