A void that can never be filled – President, PM pay tribute to maestro Amaradeva

According to the government website, President Maithripala Sirisena has said that the country is indebted to Maestro Amaradeva for his exceptional service rendered by exploring the roots of local music to enrich it to an unprecedented high.

Issuing a message of condolence over the demise of Maestro Amaradeva, the President added that he was the embodiment of simplicity and the contentment in life.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that Pandit W.D. Amaradeva who contributed immensely to the local music industry passed away marking the end of an era.

The premier said, although he left us proving the impermanence of life, which he expressed in his songs, the void created by his demise can never be filled.
