Vehicle imported during previous regime discovered in Batticaloa

A SUV which was brought into the country during the previous government, valued at Rs.70 million,  has been found at a garage in Batticaloa.

The Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division stated that the vehicle has been imported on January 20, 2010 under the registration of the Presidential Secretariat.

However, the FCID added that the vehicle was not registered at the Department of Motor Traffic.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had been parked there over an year ago by a driver of former parliamentarian Karuna Amman.

The FCID further added that vehicle had been produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate and a government analyst’s report has been called.
