'Senehe Siyapatha' for Aranayake land victims commenced

Ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the 'Senehe Siyapatha' Village in Aranayake was held on Saturday (29th Oct.) under the patronage of the Defence Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi.

'Senehe Siyapatha' Village project was initiated to construct 30 houses for the victims of the Aranayake landslide, which took place on 17th May 2016.

 

The 'Senehe Siyapatha' village project is supported by Ministry of Defence, Dialog Axiata PLC, Disaster Management Center, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Lake House and Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation. Tri forces are to provide labor support for the project.

 

Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya together with Secretary Hettiarachchi symbolically laid foundation stones for the new houses.

 

During his brief speech, Secretary Hettiarachchi noted that, 100 houses project completed in Jaffna is one of the finest examples of ongoing reconciliation process in which military forces rendered their assistance to construct houses for the war affected people. Secretary also revealed that, the completed 100 houses are scheduled to hand over in near future under the patronage of the President. Further speaking Secretary Hettiarachchi said that, altogether military forces are to build 682 houses in Jaffna.
