A book on the Buddha Sasana, the country’s future and the constitution was unveiled to the public on Friday October 21.
The book was authored by Attorney-at-Law Kanishka Vitharana.
UPFA Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena said, when Bandaranaike took steps to declare the country a republic, steps were taken to ensure that Buddhism received its due place in the country, through the constitution.
He also stated that these constitutional guarantees were broad and encompassed many aspects.
“We need to ensure that the people forming the new constitution of the government are able to understand the depth and the magnitude of this constitutional guarantee”, he added.
