The President made an important announcement related to irrigation and agriculture at the 30th Annual Conference of the Mahaweli Engineers Association on Friday, October 28. The event took place in Colombo.
President Maithripala Sirisena said, if one takes the state of development in the country, many large scale development projects have commenced and that the Moragahakanda Kalu Ganga development project have also been expedited.
“On the other hand we also expedited the Uma Oya Development Project”, he said. “We have many new proposals”, the president added..
He went on to note that local funds, international aid and grants will be utilised within the next few months.
