The interim report on the draft of a new constitution will be presented to Parliament in November.
Secretary of the Constitutional steering committee and general secretary of Parliament Niel Iddawela said, the Attorney General had also presented his views on the matter at the Constitutional Steering Committee.
He added, although broad discussions on the electoral system, devolution of power and the executive are being conducted, a final consensus on the matter had not been reached.
The constitutional steering committee convened continuously for the past four days under the auspices of the Prime Minister.
Niel Iddawela added, once the Constitutional Steering Committee submits the interim report to the constitutional assembly it will be open to the general public.
Proposals on the powers of the executive, devolution of power and the electoral system have been presented to the steering committee.The Secretary of the committee said, all of these areas will be broadly considered when the new constitution is be drafted.
