Intelligence officers injured in Chunnakam incident

Police say that two members of the State Intelligence Service have been assaulted during the staging of a robbery carried out by a yet to be identified group at the Chunnakam junction in Jaffna.

Police noted that intelligence personnel sustained lacerations in the incident.

A senior police officer in charge of the Northern Province said the officers were injured during the staging of a robbery at a shop at the Chunnakam junction, by an unidentified group.

Deputy Director of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sri Bhawanandha Raja, told News1st that the two intelligence officers were admitted to the Tellippalai Hospital and were later transferred to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Bhawanandha Raja went on to note that both officers are not in critical condition.
