The health sector notes that the risk of Dengue has increased following the heavy downpours of rain.
Director of the Dengue Control Unit of the Ministry of Health Dr. Prasheela Samaraweera said that the general public should be cautious of the possibility of the increasing risk of Dengue.
She added that a large number of cases have been reported from the Western Province and the Kandy, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts.
During the past months of this year alone, Dengue claimed 69 lives in the country.
