The foundation stone of a development project in Galgamuwa, has taken root, hinting that development in the area may be regressing to the stone age.
The foundation stone and commemorative plaque were placed here on August 8, for the Upper Giribawa Reservoir Renovation Project in Galgamuwa.
Authorities only turned their attention towards the need to renovate this reservoir, after a lapse of 20 years. Even this rare occurrence, has now been limited to the laying of the foundation stone.
The reservoir cannot even irrigate 25 acres of farmland at present.Officials who promised to repair the reservoir during the drought, are yet to reappear here. Villagers fear that with the onset of the rains, their hopes may be washed away.
