Police said that calm prevails in Kalpitiya where a tense situation broke out between two groups of fishermen in the area following a demonstration. Three persons were injured in the clash.
Police added that the demonstrators had set two vehicles ablaze. Police also added that a number of complaints regarding the incident have been lodged and investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Kandakuliya Fishing Association said that attempts to hold discussion with the Minister of Fisheries were unsuccessful on Friday.
