UN names this decade as Ecosystem Restoration – Conserve Rivers (Surakimu Ganga) program a fitting initiative – Secretary of Environment.

United Nations have named this Decade as a period to restore the wounded ecosystem. The aim of the UN program is to conserve the entire ecosystem on the planet, halt destruction to it and restore the already wounded environment. Therefore, UN targets and recommendations could be driven forward through the ‘Conserve our Rivers’ program or ‘Surakimu Ganga’, launched by our ministry, said Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Dr Anil Jasinghe.
