Former Prime Minister D.M Jayaratne passed away at the age of 88 at a private hospital in Kandy yesterday. He served as the 14th Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015 in the government of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.Following the election victory of the United People’s Freedom Alliance at the 2010 general election, Jayaratne, the most senior member of the SLFP, was sworn in as Prime Minister on 21 April 21,2010.
