Ministry of Education has taken steps to recruit 729 graduate teachers according to the Sri Lanka Teachers Service Minute to teach foreign languages in state schools.Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has presented a cabinet memorandum in August to enhance foreign languages within the state school system, to increase the number of schools that teach foreign languages, making use of language laboratories and steering students for tertiary education. The cabinet memorandum has received approval from the cabinet and the Management service Department.
