President Sirisena signs gazette notification making railway services an “essential service”

Sri_Lankan_trainNorthern_LineSri_LankaPresident Maithripala Sirisena has signed a gazette notification making the railway service an essential service with immediate effect.Secretary to the president, Austin Fernando, said the gazette was sent to the government press. The discussions which were held today, ended without a decision resulting in the train strike to continue.
