Nearly 200 murder suspects remanded annually: Prisons Dept.

RemandThe Department of Prisons notes that nearly 200 suspects are remanded in connection to murders annually. Media spokesperson of the Prisons Department, Thushara Upuldeniya, notes that 174 detainees who have been convicted of murder are currently in the prison system. He added that a further 94 persons have been incarcerated for attempted murder.
