World leaders invited for UN Vesak Day celebration

United Nation’s Vesak Day celebration will be held in Sri Lanka on 12th, 13th, and 14th May.

Over thousand representatives from India, China, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Tibet, Bhutan, and Mongolia and other countries where Buddhism is practiced are expected to participate in the event.

 

According to the Ministry of Justice and Buddhasasana, the Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksha is currently visiting Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal, Myanmar, and Laos conveying a special message from President Maithripala Sirisena inviting the leaders of these countries to participate in the UN Vesak Day celebration in Colombo.

 

The minister will meet the leaders of these countries as well as the Ministers of Cultural Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and the diplomats.
