Two more years to implement SL co-sponsored UN resolution

Sri Lanka has been given two more years to implement Sri Lanka co-sponsored 30/1 Geneva resolution 2015 without any amendment or new suggestions by the UNHRC, said the Acting Foreign Minister Dr. Harsha De Silva.

He with authority said that no new clauses have been added to the resolution such as establishment of Hybrid Courts or involvement of Foreign Judges and added this is only a ‘Technical Roll Over’.

He made these remarks today (8th March) addressing media at the Department of Government Information.

The minister further added that Sri Lanka still has not accepted the report presented by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein and  will express its opinion after discussing with all relevant parties in that regard. Minister also quoted the Sri Lanka’s representative who addressed the Council yesterday in Geneva, “We are studying all their reports carefully and we will at a suitable time share our views and observations on the issues raised in the High Commissioner’s latest report after consultation with all parties concerned and also provide updates.”
