Mosquito Prevention Week in Trincomalee: over 50 people prosecuted

Authorities have inspected 4,752 premises during the first day of the Mosquito Prevention Week being implemented in Trincomalee and 52 people have been prosecuted while 170 houses were issued notice.


Mosquito Prevention Week in Trincomalee was commenced yesterday (22nd March) under the direct supervision of Health Minister Rajitha Senarathne.


About 150 teams consisting of Tri –forces members, Civil Defense Force members, Health officials, Medical Health Officers, and Mosquito Prevention Assistants are supporting the program.


Out of 4,608 houses inspected yesterday, 545 houses have been indentified with possible dengue breeding places and 77 premises with larvas. Steps have been taken to rectify 483 premises.


In addition, three government institution premises and two private institution premises were also found with larvas, the sources said.
