Railway Trade Unions to call off strike action

The Railway Trade Unions have decided to call of their strike action that was scheduled to commence at midnight.

However, a number of trade unions including private buses, three-wheelers and school transport services are going ahead with the scheduled strike action.

A number of trade unions in the transport sector called on the president at the parliamentary complex this afternoon.

However, thirty trade unions including the Inter Provincial Private Bus Owners Association are to carry out their strike action as planned.

The trade unions did not participate at the discussions that were held today.

The strike action is being taken against the increase in traffic fines.
