Pakistan Airlines flight with more than 40 people on board has crashed in the north of the country.
According to Reuters the national flag carrier had confirmed in a statement that Flight PK-661 had lost contact with air traffic controllers on Wednesday afternoon.
The PIA plane with 47 passengers on board went missing near Abbottabad while it was on its way to Islamabad.
Laiq Shah, a senior police official in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province told Reuters by telephone that the plane had crashed in that region, near the town of Havelian.
Rescue teams are rushing towards the accident site.
