One shot dead in Galewala – Live ammunition seized from Katunayake

An individual was shot dead in Galewela. Police said the deceased was a 36 year old.

According to the police the shooting took place when the individual was on a paddy land he owns, at around 6.45 AM on Wednesday (December 21st).

The businessman who sustained severe injuries, died upon admission to the Dambula General Hospital.

The police say that an investigation has been launched in search of the suspect connected to the shooting.

Meanwhile 163 rounds of live ammunition has been seized by the Crimes Division of the Western Province.

The live ammunition’s were seized from a house in Devamottawa, in Katunanayake.

Eleven types of ammunition including that of a T56 fire arm and 9 mm revolver are being taken in to custody.

Our correspondent said that the suspect is an employee of the Katunayake Municipal Council.
