The London Stock Exchange Group opened its new technology facility in Colombo today, Monday, December 5.
The new London Stock Exchange facility was declared open by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Chairman of LSEG Donald Bryan.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, speaking at the event, noted that the London Stock Exchange has decided to come to Sri Lanka due to the stable government and the macro economic stabilization programme which was introduced by the government headed by President Maithripala Sirisena.
“You placed confidence in us, and after the elections were announced, you have decided to start this operation”, he added, “You will not regret it first and foremost, there will be many opportunities for financial markets. We have been discussing these issues even today, and you made a correct choice”.
The event was attended by a large gathering including Ministers Ravi Karunanayake and Patali Champika Ranawaka.
