Postal Services have been disrupted as a result of the 48-hour token strike action launched by the trade unions of postal employees.
Co-Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Unions Front Chinthaka Bandara said that almost 95% of the postal employees are engaged in the strike launched in protest against the manner in which resentments are made and promotions are given.
He added that around one million letters have gathered at the Central Mail Exchange. Meanwhile, the Department of Posts said that a circular has been issued cancelling all leave of postal employees. The Postmaster General Rohana Abeyratne said that instructions were given to all deputy postmaster generals and regional post officers to carry out services systematically.
