Four more RO plants opened by SL Navy

Sri Lanka Navy’s Community Service Project under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne donated four more Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants for community use yesterday (27th Dec.).

Accordingly, two RO plants were opened in the villages of Silwathgama, Galewela and another two units were opened in Dekethipothana, Horowpothana and Naval Agricultural and Livestock Project, Trincomalee.


Expertise from the Navy’s Research and Development Unit was received to install these two facilities along with the financial provision made by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases. With the installation of these plants, over 1,300 families in those villages are facilitated with safe drinking water provided free of charge.

 

The Research and Development Unit of the Navy have installed 78 RO units in different parts of the county to date, for the benefit of 35,800 families and 27,000 school children.
