Cesc Fabregas put the Blues ahead in the first -half against a ressilient Sunderland at at the Stadium of Light.
Fabregas found the back of the net from the edge of the box to give Chelsea a 10th consecutive league victory. The hosts had a few chances but was kept at bay by Thibaut Courtois who superbly denied Patrick van Aanholt from snatching a point in injury time.
The victory leaves Antonio Conte’s side at the top of the table at Christmas with Arsenal loosing to Everton on Tuesday
