Atleast 29 killed in Mexico fireworks blast

At least 29 people were killed on Tuesday in an explosion at a fireworks market in Tultepec, Mexico, according to local authorities.

Dozens of other people were injured as the blast hit the San Pablito fireworks market, about 20 miles (32km) outside the city.

Footage from the scene showed a large number of fireworks rocketing into the air as they caught fire.

Dozens of paramedics and police attended the scene. The cause of the explosions is not yet known.

The general public have been told to avoid the area and keep roads clear.

Pyrotechnics are a major industry in Tultepec. In 2005, a large explosion took place at the same fireworks market. That blast injured many people and caused enormous damage.

Photos from Red Cross Mexico also showed the devastation and paramedics on the scene.

In the meantime Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto took to Twitter to offer his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the blast and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
