‘Vidulka’, National Energy Efficiency Award - 2016, organized by the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, was held yesterday (Nov. 24) at the BMICH, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The award ceremony is held with the objective of taking Sri Lanka progressively towards energy security. It also aims at promoting the energy management activities, carried out by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority and other related institutions.
The organizations which are engaged in energy efficiency activities, energy management activities, efficiency resource management, are recognized and commended at the national level at this award ceremony.
The President presented awards for personal excellence in energy management to A. R. M. Munas while Prof. Mohan Munasinghe was awarded for the implementation of policies in the field of energy.
The President also presented a posthumous award for late P. K. Upawansha who lost his life during the process of taking the energy services to the people. Sarath Upawansha, the son of P. K. Upawansha received the award from the President.
President Sirisena also launched the official website of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority on this occasion.
