A couple was killed in a motor accident in Avissawella on the Avissawella- Ratnapura main road.
According to police, the accident occurred when a three-wheeler collided with a tipper truck, after the driver of the three wheeler fell asleep.
Police noted that a one-and-a-half year old child had been rescued from the wreck, and has been transported to Colombo for treatment.
The driver of the truck has been taken into police custody.
