PUC launches investigation into Lakshapana electricity sub station fire

The Public Utilities Commission has launched an investigation into the fire that erupted at the electricity sub-station in Lakshapana.

Director General of the Commission Damitha Kumarasinghe said that any future course of action will be based upon the final report of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Electricity Board has also commenced an investigation into the said fire. Media Spokesperson of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Sulakshana Jayawardena said that steps will be taken to assess the damages caused to the transformers and necessary funds for repairs will be allocated accordingly.

The fire erupted on November 9 resulted in a malfunction in the generators at the Lakshapana power plant. The supply of electricity was curtailed in the area for a few hours owing to the fire.
